Today we filmed the interior shots with Garrett. Our extras canceled last minute so we were only able to shoot kitchen scenes, table scenes of Garrett, and stairway scenes. The only ones left are the couch scenes.

Our first day of shooting. Well....we got some great shots, I implemented the use of manual focus to convey the victim coming in and out of consciousness. But, the conditions we were working in were not ideal. Night. Woods. Mosquitoes. Mud. Mosquitoes...MOSQUITOES. Not fun. The shots themselves look great, my ankles on the other hand..
Today in class we presented our test shots and analyzed one another's shots. We got some tips on lighting that we might be able to implement, but could be difficult given the real shots are outdoors, not in a small corridor. Reviewing our own footage, we were also able to critique our own and figure out slightly different ways of creating the shots. Let's see how Saturday goes
In class today we practiced with some test shots for our night scene. We shot it in the auditorium....in the dark. We experimented with different lighting techniques and found a set up that we thought worked nicely. Let's just say that one lucky junior assistant is gonna get some strong arm muscles. We practiced two of the shots, a close up of the victim tied up and a follow shot of the victim running. We will hopefully be filming these shots this weekend, wish us luck! :)
I was discussing our film with a family friend; this family friend just so happens to be a realtor. So when I told her how we were still trying to figure out whose house to shoot the interior scenes at, she said she would be happy to help find us a model house and that she knows other realtors that would be thrilled to help us out. Yayy!!!! Hopefully our search for the ideal location will finally be over. This is much better than filming in one our own houses because it will be a blank canvas--walls, floors, and furniture. Thus, we won't have to worry about personal items or weird decor. So long story short--WE'VE GOT OU
Well auditions went pretty well. We got the actor we wanted for the lead role. As far as extras go, I think we plan on hiring some friends. All they have to do is sit and be frozen, not much to it. Maybe we can offer them CAS hours...ya........that'll hook them...we'll have a full cast in no time :P
Our film definitely follows several of the points from Story of Story; "show, don't tell" being one of them. There is a definite unity of action. I do feel like our narrative is successful in placing the viewer in the main characters shoes. Act 1: Introduces MAN and his "family," it quickly becomes apparent that this is not a typical "family." Act 2: Can be when a family member escapes and MAN finds out Act 3: The climax can be considered MAN's realization of his predicament and that he has two choices he can make. (SPOILER ALERT ltimately, he chooses death) Welcome to my blog, where I will be writing about my role in the progress of the creation of Dollhouse. Not only my role as DP, but also my involvement in the screenplay, auditions, website, costume, etc.
Today, my team and I collaborated over the creation of the website. We each made our bio section as well as our individual blogs. Soon, this will be filled with glorious posts about our film makinf process!!!! yay:) |
