After getting a few of our shots done, with great trouble, I was thinking about what sound would be good for each shot. One of them was the shot with the victim trying to escape with his hands tied. I was thinking that a really stressful and uneasy stringed instrument would fit nicely here. When I find some time, I will upload the foot

I almost died. For. Real. Some people wanted to shoot at night... On a dirt road... In the rain (don't worry- we had umbrellas and everything was wrapped in plastic). And on this dirt road, there were many puddles... And a large ditch running along it. After we finished shooting- which was horrible- we all got in the cars and attempted to turn around. As we were turning, a person who shall remained unnamed, drove the car into... the ditch. And then I died, cried, and rocked back and forth. I think we have traumatized the juniors... BUT. We got the footage. Which was really actually disappointing for the amount of time and effort.
Today in class we watched some title sequences for some cool films on artofthetitle.com. I showed my group the title sequence for Se7en, and they seemed to like it.
So I was looking at the apps suggested for iOS 8, and GarageBand was one, so I clicked it. (I had tried it before but you had to pay for all the instruments!). Anyway, now all the instruments are free and it's cool so I'm happy. Now I will be able to make some music if we aren't able to do a real arrangement. Or I would at least be able to make some sort of sound for simple shots. (ex. The long note of a violin for a suspenseful shot). Yesterday in class we did some sample shots to see how we might set them up for the real shoot. We did a shot where one of the victims is trying to get loose from being tied up, and a follow shot if the victim running away. We experimented with our lighting and found a set up that worked nicely. This was helpful because we will now have an idea of how to set up our shots, instead of wasting time on the actual shoot. Anyway, the two shots we tried ended up looking pretty cool. I have hope for our film. Yesterday the auditions for the films took place. Everyone who auditioned was great, and we found a couple of people who fit well with our film. Luckily, we casted Garret as our lead role, the killer. I think having him working with us on the film as an actor AND as the score composer will aid our film compilation in the end. The other night I happened to switch onto a channel while watching TV that was playing The Dark Knight. The scene where the Joker intrudes on the big party for Harvey Dent was playing, and I noticed that when the scene became more intense, the music changed to one long single note of a violin. I found this very unsettling and I thought, this could be really cool in our film. So I told Jessica about it and we are going to try it out.
Today I downloaded Audacity. The program seems easy enough to use... Magix Music Maker is probably the best, however I find that actually producing our own music from it is difficult, so hopefully we will be able to get an actual composition written and produced. I am also going to watch the videos on the film website on sound to ensure that I know what I'm doing.
After researching the three act structure, I learned that creating an interesting story that makes sense is harder than it seems. When looking at our own script, I would say that the script follows this structure in a way, however in Act II where there should be a False Victory, our character does not experience a false victory. Our character must decide between escaping or staying with his family in a frantic situation, which could act as rising action, however we still do not have a false victory. On the plus side, I do think that our script has an inciting incident and climax.
Today I researched some more ways to include sound in our film. I have already downloaded Magix Music Maker, but I didn't think it was so hot, so I searched for some other options. I found a Garageband app on my iPhone because I don't have a Mac, but the stupid app only had a piano and that's not cool. Jessica tells me that another fella is working on the score for our film so I guess most of our music will be taken care of. But I need to meet with this little fella and talk to him and such. Anyway, all of the music making websites that I found were not helpful in the slightest.
