Yesterday the auditions for the films took place. Everyone who auditioned was great, and we found a couple of people who fit well with our film. Luckily, we casted Garret as our lead role, the killer. I think having him working with us on the film as an actor AND as the score composer will aid our film compilation in the end.

The other night I happened to switch onto a channel while watching TV that was playing The Dark Knight. The scene where the Joker intrudes on the big party for Harvey Dent was playing, and I noticed that when the scene became more intense, the music changed to one long single note of a violin. I found this very unsettling and I thought, this could be really cool in our film. So I told Jessica about it and we are going to try it out.
Today I downloaded Audacity. The program seems easy enough to use... Magix Music Maker is probably the best, however I find that actually producing our own music from it is difficult, so hopefully we will be able to get an actual composition written and produced. I am also going to watch the videos on the film website on sound to ensure that I know what I'm doing.
After researching the three act structure, I learned that creating an interesting story that makes sense is harder than it seems. When looking at our own script, I would say that the script follows this structure in a way, however in Act II where there should be a False Victory, our character does not experience a false victory. Our character must decide between escaping or staying with his family in a frantic situation, which could act as rising action, however we still do not have a false victory. On the plus side, I do think that our script has an inciting incident and climax.
Today I researched some more ways to include sound in our film. I have already downloaded Magix Music Maker, but I didn't think it was so hot, so I searched for some other options. I found a Garageband app on my iPhone because I don't have a Mac, but the stupid app only had a piano and that's not cool. Jessica tells me that another fella is working on the score for our film so I guess most of our music will be taken care of. But I need to meet with this little fella and talk to him and such. Anyway, all of the music making websites that I found were not helpful in the slightest.
